Experts of the Regional EST Forum in Asia

Roles of the Experts

The overall roles of the Experts are defined as follows:

  • Provide over all advisory support, strategic and policy guidance in promoting EST in Asian countries vis-a-vis in the implementation of the EST project;

  • Participate in the Regional EST Forum and share best practices/experiences/tools/technologies in the relevant areas of EST;

  • Participate in national level meetings/consultations/training programmes as resource persons as and when necessary; and

  • Review and provide comments/feedback on the relevant sections of the draft national EST strategies

The Experts are expected to provide their contribution in twelve specific thematic area(s) underlined/defined in the Aichi Statement as listed below.

  • Public health

  • Land-use planning

  • Environment and people friendly urban transport infrastructures

  • Public transport planning and transport demand management (TDM)

  • Non-motorized transport (NMT)

  • Social equity and gender perspectives

  • Road safety and maintenance

  • Strengthening road side air quality monitoring and assessment

  • Traffic noise management

  • Cleaner fuel

  • Vehicle emission control, standards, and inspection and maintenance (I/M)

  • Strengthening knowledge base, awareness, and public participation
