UNCRD delivered a keynote speech at the National Seminar on "Urban Environment and Disaster Management: Urban Sustainability, Resilience and Risk Reduction," held on 27-28 August 2026, in Hyderabad, India

Choudhury Rudra Charan Mohanty, Environment Programme Coordinator at the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), delivered the keynote address at the two-day the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) sponsored National Seminar on “Urban Environment and Disaster Management: Urban Sustainability, Resilience and Risk Reduction.” The event was organized by the Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (RCUES), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India), at the Osmania University Campus, Hyderabad, on 27-28 August 2026.

Addressing the theme “Circular Economy towards Zero Waste, Resilient and Sustainable Cities,” CRC Mohanty underscored the critical role of resource efficiency, the 3R approach (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle), and core circular economy principles. He also highlighted the pivotal significance of the Jaipur Declaration in accelerating the transformation of urban systems into resilient, resource-efficient, and sustainable hubs.
