UNCRD Programmes/Projects

The United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) targets its programmes towards sustainable economic, social, and environmental development.

In recognition of the vital importance of human security, this concept is being integrated into activities carried by all UNCRD offices.

The Environment for Sustainable Development Programme gives special focus to Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) and Circular Economy/3Rs/Sustainable Waste Management.

The Disaster Risk Management Programme focuses to "water and disasters", and assist a secretariat of the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP).

The Integrated Regional Development Planning (IRDP) /Localizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Programme currently gives focus to Localized SDGs, especially SDG Monitoring;

The Smart City Programme focuses to capacity-building for development countries.

UNCRD pursues development-related activities such as training, research, and knowledge management, so that each government can incorporate global development goals and associated targets into its national planning processes, policies, and strategies. UNCRD believes regional development planning continues to be a valid approach for sustainable development.

UNCRD is continuing its activities in Africa and Latin America, where the Centre's regional office were located, in collaboration with other UN organizations based on our activities on integrated regional development, to make important contribution towards the formulation of sustainable regional development management plans and their implementation, which have been highly appreciated in their respective regions.
