The new development agenda, "Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" was adopted at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in 2015, along with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the global development framework for the fifteen years from 2016 to 2030. The challenge now is how all the countries, regions and cities implement this comprehensive development agenda inclusively and in an integrated manner.

At this seminar, Professor Jayant Kumar Routray, School of Environment, Resources and Development, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), discussed contemporary regional development planning to bring the debate to the forefront of regional development that will be fitting for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. UNCRD invited academia in Chubu Region to join the seminar so as to learn about contemporary thinking on regional development planning and share various policy options, technologies and institutional measures, and consider together how to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Chubu region.
