G20 Special Event in Bali "Building Back Stronger from Impacts of COVID-19, Climate Change, and Disasters -- Actions towards Quality Society"

people stand in front of the sign board of the special event on Disaster Risk Reduction at G20On 11 November 2022, UNCRD co-organized, with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia and the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP), the G20 Special Event in Bali "Building Back Stronger from Impacts of COVID-19, Climate Change, and Disasters -- Actions towards Quality Society". Following opening remarks by Dr. Han Seung-soo, Chair of the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP) and Dr. Basuki Hadjimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia, key messages was delivered by Dr. Csaba Korosi, President of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Keynote speeches were also made by Professor Danilo Turk, former President of Slovenia, Chair of Global High-level Panel on Water and Peace, Dr. Bambang Susantono, Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Lead Political Advisor for Geneva Water Hub, Dr. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). In the session, political leaders and heads of the UN and international organizations discussed decision making, policies, and administrative tools to simultaneously cope with triple impacts of COVID-19, climate change, and disasters. The G20 Special Event also helped G20 and other leaders to discuss a future model of sustainable, resilient, and inclusive city with focus the new Capital of Indonesia, Nusantara. As a result of the Special Event, the HELP message to G20 leaders were handed over from Dr. Han Seung-soo to Dr. Basuki Hadjimuljono.
