Participation in the 9th United Cities and Local Governments Asia and Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) Congress, 13-15 November 2023, Yiwu, PR China

The United Nations Centre for regional Development (UNCRD) participated in the 9th United Cities and Local Governments Asia and Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) Congress from 13 to 15 November 2023 in Crowne Plaza Yiwu Expo, co-organized by UCLG ASPAC, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and the Yiwu Municipal People’s Government, with the theme “Advancing Balanced Economic Development for Asia and the Pacific.” In the Main Forum, the Roundtable Dialogue was conducted with the title “Economic and Trade Cooperation among Asia-Pacific Cities and Local Governments”. Speakers include Mr. Dakila Carlo Cua (President of Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, Governor of Quirino Province), Mr.Luo Zupan (Vice Mayor of Yiwu Municipal People's Government), Mr. Nakano Yusuke (Mayor of Hamamatsu City of Japan), and other mayors. The Asia Pacific Connectivity seminar was also conducted to discuss and collaborate on solutions for strengthening global and regional supply chains in the context of urban logistics. UNCRD Director delivered a speech with title of “Paving the way for urban resilience and sustainability” to discuss how UNCRD can assist local governments through theUNCRD programmes, such as EST, Circular Economy, DRR, Smart Cities, and Quality Infrastructure.
