Participation in the International Recovery Forum 2024 (25 January 2024, Kobe/Online)

The United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) participated in the International Recovery Forum 2024 titled “Accelerating Progress with Building Back Better: Resilient Recovery in the Face of Rising Climate Risks” organized by International Recovery Platform, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction - Kobe Office, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Asian Disaster Reduction Center, Cabinet Office (Japan), Hyogo Prefectural Government.

The International Recovery Forum is the only international conference on disaster recovery. It brought together national and local government officials, disaster recovery practitioners, planners, researchers, and representatives of international organizations for a lively discussion on how Build Back Better can be put into practice at different levels - global, national, and local.

Kazushige Endo, Director of UNCRD, moderated one of Parallel Resilient Recovery Panels titled “Japan’s experiences and contributions to build back better from the past and for the future”. The panel had a fruitful discussion on how to share Japan's experiences and lessons learnt on disaster prevention and recovery with overseas and how to apply them in the future.
