SIDS (Pacific Island Countries) Capacity-Building Workshop on the Implementation of the Jaipur Declaration on 3R and Circular Economy (2025-2035) (Suva, Fiji, 21-25 July 2025)

The United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD)-Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG) /United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) , the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Republic of Fiji will co-organize the SIDS (Pacific Island Countries) Capacity-Building Workshop on the Implementation of the Jaipur Declaration on 3R and Circular Economy (2025-2035), in conjunction with the consultation on the Cleaner Pacific 2035 Regional Waste and Pollution Management Strategy led by SPREP, in Suva, Fiji, on 21-25 July 2025.
The objective of the workshop is to address capacity issues (institutional, financial, technical, data/information gaps) in PICs in the areas of 3R and Circular Economy concerning various waste streams in the context of implementation of Jaipur 3R & CE Declaration (2025-2035), which was adopted by participating countries at the High-Level 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia-Pacific, hosted by the Government of India from 3 to 5 March 2025 in Jaipur, India. The workshop also provides an opportunity to discuss the Country Reporting Guidelines (Guidance Note 3 of Jaipur Declaration) which will guide the countries’ reporting on their voluntary progress and achievements in relation to the 13 Goals of the Jaipur Declaration.
The workshop will be organized with the participation of government representatives from 15 countries (Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Mashall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu), local governments and municipal waste authorities, regional organizations and international experts, NGOs, academia and the private sectors.
DRAFT Concept Note and Programme
