The UN Forum 2023: The SDGs that Leave No One Behind, 14 November 2023, Nagoya, Japan

UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA and Nagoya Gakuin University (NGU) co-organized the “UN Forum 2023: The SDGs that Leave No One Behind” on 14 November 2023 in NGU campus with the participation of around 100 students and faculties. The objective of the Forum was to empower the students by enhancing their understanding on the progress of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Japan and beyond and the role of circular economy. While the Forum was opened by Prof. Toshiyasu Izawa, Vice President of NGU, the keynote speech was delivered by the former and 8th Director General of UNESCO, Dr. Koichiro Matsuura on “Japan and the SDGs” followed by a thematic presentation on “Circular Economy Towards Achieving the SDGs” by CRC Mohanty, UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA. Following the two deliberations there was a panel discussion, and students raised various questions to deepen their further understanding on both SDGs and role of circular economy in achieving the SDGs. The forum which was conducted in both English and Japanese was broadcasted on YouTube for general public. The Forum was coordinated by Prof. Kozue Kay Nagata of International Culture Department of NGU, who was former UN DESA staff at Office of ECOSOC Support, DESA and former UNESCO Country Director for Pakistan.
