UNCRD contribution to the World Environment Day 2021 (Pre-event of 11th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum 2021)

With UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA as a supporting organization, the Institute for Spatial and Environment Research (ISPER), All India Institute of Local Self-Government (AIILSG) and 3R Waste Foundation, India co-organized a World Environment Day webinar on 5 June 2021 on the theme of "3R & Circular Economy for Restoring Ecosystem and Achieving Clean Water, Land and Air". This webinar was organized as a pre-event of the upcoming UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA led the 11th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia-Pacific scheduled to be held in 2021. About 150 participants from 10 countries comprising of academia, NGOs, national and local government officers, private sectors, UN and international organizers and donor agencies took part in the event. UNCRD delivered a presentation on "Role of 3R and Circular Economy to Achieve Clean Water, Land and Air" highlighting the potential resource circulation strategy towards new plastics economy. UNCRD underscored that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as an enabler of the circular economy. UNCRD showcased the outcome of Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forums in Asia and the Pacific, including the "Indore 3R Declaration of Asian Mayors on Achieving Clean Water, Clean Land and Clean Air in Cities" and the potential opportunities of circular economy in post COVID-19 recovery.
