UNCRD contribution to the World Environment Day 2021

With a theme of "Environmental Restoration and Circular Economy", UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA co-organized the World Environment Day on 5 June 2021 with the International Society of Waste Management Air and Water (ISWMAW), International Partnership for Expanding Waste Management Services of Local Authorities (IPLA) - a SDG partnership, Center for South East Asian Studies (CSEAS), Indonesia, GSTIC-Beligum, among others. UNCRD delivered an opening presentation on 3R and Circular Economy in Asia Pacific drawing lessons from the UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA led Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia-Pacific. More than 600 participants from 27 countries took part in the event. The event discussed a range of topics such as marine litter prevention and circularity of plastics, quantifying plastic pollution from mismanaged waste, industrial symbiosis for circular economy, and EU's green deal, among others.
