UNCRD supported 8th International Conference on Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development (CEESD 2023) and International Conference on Water Pollution Control Engineering held in Matsue city, Japan, 1-3 November 2023

UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA supported Sophia University, International Society for Environmental Information Sciences, Asia Pacific Institute of Science and Engineering, and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in co-organizing of the 8th International Conference on Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development (CEESD 2023) in conjunction with International Conference on Water Pollution Control Engineering held in Matsue city, Japan from 1-3 November 2023. The theme of the conference was to address various research issues in Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering and its application and Sustainable Development. The conference focused on sustainability, particularly tsunami disaster prevention and mitigation, socio-economic and environmental impacts of carbon fee, optimization model for planning water resources and accelerating circular economy solutions to support UN SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). Approximately 100 participants from 5 countries comprising of academia, NGOs, government officials, private sectors, UN, and international organizations participated in this conference. UNCRD delivered a presentation on “Accelerating Circular Economy Solutions to Support and Achieve UN SDG 6”. UNCRD also chaired a technical session on water and wastewater management and a poster session at the conference. UNCRD participated in the Scientific Committee meeting and discussed future development of water and wastewater management, including possible collaboration for the upcoming 12th Regional 3R and Circular Forum in Asia and the Pacific in Vietnam in 2024.
