On 14 December 2022, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution at its seventy-seventh session to proclaim 30th March as the International Day of Zero Waste with the objective of promoting sustainable consumption and production patterns, supporting the societal shift towards circularity and raising awareness about how zero-waste initiatives contribute to the advancement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To celebrate International Day of Zero-waste, UNCRD-DSDG/UN DESA, 3R WASTE Foundation (India) , UN-Global Compact Network India (UNGCNI) in collaboration with All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG) has planned to organise a webinar on "Moving towards Zero-waste Cities for Clean Environment through 3R and Circular Economy “ on Saturday March 30, 2024 at 15:00 hours (IST). The webinar shall focus on promoting 3R & circular economy for all forms of municipal waste (solid and dry waste, wet waste, wastewater and sewage sludge), reducing adverse environmental impacts of cities by paying special attention to land and air quality and municipal and other waste management and achieving significant improvement in water quality by reducing pollution and substantially increasing water-use efficiency across all sectors.
