Follow-up Project of International Training Course in Regional Development (ITC)

2012/12/15 to 2012/12/17

Date:  15-17 December 2012

Introduction and Objectives

As a part of ITC held every spring in Japan, UNCRD conducts its follow-up projects in one or two selected participants' countries with the following objectives:

  1. to help the participants disseminate what they learned in the course to their supervisors, colleagues, and other stakeholders involved;
  2. to technically support the implementation of their action plans in compliance with their wishes;
  3. to see the training impact of ITC at the organizational/regional level; and
  4. to access training needs for the next ITC.

Since ITC 30 held in 2002, it has conducted four follow-up projects in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Mongolia, Bangladesh, and Bhutan. Especially through seminar-type of projects which were organized by initiatives of participants since ITC 31, what participants learned in the course has been widely disseminated and substantive discussion has been created not only on their action plan but also regional development as a whole, which has made a clear path toward implementation of their action plans and in fact implementation has already been started. UNCRD, through implementing a series of follow-up projects, has effectively achieved the above four objectives.
