Objectives:
Principal Objectives:
- To provide mid-career planners with requisite knowledge and skills in formulating and implementing effective local/regional development policies and plans.
- To broaden the knowledge of the participants on the institutional framework within which regional development planning generally takes place in Africa and specifically in their respective countries.
Specific Objectives:
- To strengthen the institutional capacity of African countries for regional planning by training planners working with governments and other relevant organizations in effective skills and approaches for local and regional development planning and management;
- To create a forum for African planners to exchange views on inter-country experience and promote network building; and
- To expose African planners to other regions' development strategies and efforts from which they can draw the lessons.
