Seminar on Zero Waste - A Vision for 21 Century Cities - Launching of the Road Map for Zero Waste Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Gujarat, India, with the support of UNCRD and Zero Waste South Australia, has taken an initiative in developing a "Road Map for Zero Waste Ahmedabad". The Road Map, which consists of ten focal areas and thirty four strategic actions, offers a visionary document to guide AMC to introduce and implement policies and strategies, and to raise awareness amongst private, business, industrial, scientific and research communities in Ahmedabad. On the occasion of the launching of the Road Map, the Seminar on Zero Waste - A Vision for 21 Century Cities was organized at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2013 (http://www.vibrantgujarat.com/) in Ahmedabad.

The objectives are to:

  • Promote zero waste policies and program among local authorities and municipalities, share the "Road Map for Zero Waste Ahmedabad", and discuss the significance of developing such road maps for many other cities in the context of sustainable urban development policies and programs.
  • At the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2013, UNCRD also participated in the Seminar on Land Use Efficiency & Urban Transport on 12 January 2013.
