UNDESA partners (DSDG, UNOSD and UNCRD) and in coordination with the RCO/UNCT, and in partnership with the Governments of Morocco represented by Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and with support from Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco), co-organized a Training Workshop entitled “Advancing Sustainable and Resilient Recovery and Transition towards the Sustainable Development Goals in the Kingdom of Morocco: The 3Rs, Circular Economy and Sustainable Waste Management”, in Tangier, Morocco during 1-3 November 2023. The workshop brought together more than 50 high level policy makers and professionals from a wide range of national, regional and city government, civil society organizations, development cooperation partners and UN and K-eco and GGGI (Global Green Growth Institute) experts in green and resilient recovery and transition. The workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of a wide range of national stakeholders at the national and local levels and enhancing knowledge and skills on formulating and implementing green and resilient recovery and transition plans that prioritize circular economy policies, 3Rs approaches and Waste management with an objective to move towards resource efficient and zero waste societies that accelerate the implementation of the SDGs. UNCRD substantially intervened and contributed to the training workshop by delivering two presentations – (a) Solutions in mainstreaming Circular Economy and 3Rs in policy planning and development at local/national level in the context of natural resource management and SDGs; and (b) 3Rs- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – Implementation, building upon the experiences from the High-Level Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia and the Pacific.
