The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations collaborated with the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and the Geneva Water Hub to host a dialogue session on 6 December 2024 in Geneva. This session explored the pathway from the Bandung Spirit Water Summit to the upcoming UN 2026 Water Conference, with planning support from the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD).

The dialogue featured Mrs. Retno L.P. Marsudi's debut in Geneva as UN Special Envoy on Water since taking office in November 2024. Mrs. Marsudi emphasized two pillars of the Bandung Spirit: international cooperation; and elevated attention to developing nations' water needs. She shared the stage with several UN Principals, including the Secretary-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and the Lead Political Advisor of the Geneva Water Hub.

The event drew more than 120 participants from 60 countries and territories, bringing together representatives from permanent missions in Geneva, delegates from international organizations and other stakeholders including youth participants. This diverse gathering reflected the dialogue's broader aim: to formulate concrete actions and key messages for the upcoming UN 2026 Water Conference.
