The International Training Workshop on Smart Cities for Building Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Cities and Communities (29 August-1 September 2023, Nagoya, Japan)

The United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) organized the "International Training Workshop on Smart Cities for Building Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Cities and Communities," from 29 August to 1 September 2023 in Nagoya, Japan, with the support of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT), the Government of Japan. The workshop was attended by twenty mayors and executive-level city officials from seventeen cities in nine countries in the Asia and Pacific.

The workshop consisted of seven sessions focusing on smart mobility and transportation, and water-related disaster risk reduction. The participants shared their experiences and challenges through group exercises. The opening session was addressed by the Mayor of Nagoya City, and the Mayor of Toyota City gave a speech at the Toyota Ecoful Town, which was visited by the participants. On the final day, the participants paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Aichi Prefecture. It is hoped that the participating cities will continue to promote initiatives to solve issues through the use of digital technology and innovation.

Furthermore, the participant also attended the "International Symposium on Local SDGs - Monitoring and Accelerating Actions towards the 2030 Agenda", which was organized the Central Japan SDGs Platform, in the afternoon of 1 September 2023 after the training workshop.
