As part of the national component of the EST project and as a follow-up to the Aichi Statement adopted by 14 Asian countries, UNCRD organized the In-country EST Policy Dialogue-cum-Training Workshops in Lao PDR, Viet Nam, and Cambodia with the objectives to:
- Review national transport and environment policies in relation to Aichi Statement
- Build capacity of various line Ministries/Agencies in relevant EST areas underlined in Aichi Statement
- Improve interagency coordination at national level on the implementation/consideration of EST related policies in their work programmes
- Improve input from the line Ministries/agencies for the National EST Strategies
- Consolidate country inputs for the 2nd Regional EST Forum to be held on 11-12 Dec 2006 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia
The workshops covered EST themes that were identified as priority areas as a result of consultations held between respective government focal points and UNCRD.
