The United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD)-DSDG/UNDESA and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) co-organize the "Capacity Building Workshop for South, Southeast and East Asian Countries on the Implementation of the Jaipur Declaration on 3R and Circular Economy (2025-2035) – Accelerating the SDGs" from 25 to 27 November 2026 at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.

The Jaipur Declaration on 3R and Circular Economy (2025-2035), which was adopted at the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia and the Pacific held on 3–5 March 2025 in Jaipur, India, is a voluntary and non-legally binding regional commitment and policy-guiding framework to advance resource efficiency, sustainable consumption and production, and circular economy approaches in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also aligns with relevant global frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, as well as regional frameworks such as the Regional Programme of Action on Advancing Synergies for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific, 2026-2030.

To this end, the workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of countries in South, Southeast and East Asia to translate the commitments of the Jaipur Declaration into national policies, programme and practical actions towards achieving sustainable and circular societies and the SDGs. The workshop also provides an opportunity to present relevant policies, strategies, and best practices, and to gain insights into the goals addressed in the Jaipur Declaration, including economic growth and opportunities, technologies and innovations, multi-stakeholder partnerships and collaboration, social empowerment and security, nature-based solutions and approaches, public awareness and education, and financing and investment.

The three-day workshop will combine expert presentations, case studies, interactive group discussions and practical learning. Sessions will focus on key issues and approaches for implementing 3R and circular economy under the framework of the Jaipur Declaration (2025-2035).

The workshop is expected to be attended by approximately 70 participants including relevant ministries of South, Southeast and East Asian countries, local governments, UN organizations, international organizations, academic and research institutions, NGOs, and private sector.
